INFORMATION
This form is for applications for import of dogs/cats from rabiesinfected
countries ouside the EU/EFTA region.Normal processing time is approximately
3 weeks. Therefore, please send your application well ahead of
time for the intended import.
There is application fee of 500 NOK which must be made out
the Norwegian Animal Health Authority, P.O.Box 8147 Dep., N-0033 Oslo,
Norway, postal giro account no.0823 0967 009. A receipt for the
fee must accompany the application. 0ne may apply for a maximum of 10
dogs for one application fee.
Pet owners will then be sent an import permit which is valid
for 1(one) year from date of issue together with a health certificate
that must be completed by an official veterinary officer in the export
country. This certificate must not be older than 10 days on arrival
in Norway (this health certificate must confirm that the requirementsb
listed below are fulfilled). Both documents in original form (not copies
and telefax) must accompany the animal at the border control.
The animal(s) must travel directly to 0slo. The DistrictVeterinary
Officer in 0slo and Follo(telephone + 47 22 96 49 72 ) must be advised
at least 48 hours in advance of date, time and place of arrival, the
ships name or the airline flightnumber and meeting place. After the
control the animals must be checked through customs. P1ease contact
the customs authorities for futher information.
For import of dogs/cats to Norway the following is required:
- the animal must be ID-marked (tatoo or microchip).
- the animal must be at least 6 months old and not pregnant.
- the animal must have been treated against parasites (Echinicoccus
multilocularis) within the last 10 days before importation.
- dogs must be vaccinated against leptospirosis and canine
distemper. Bloodtests for Brucella canis must be documented.
- The animal must be kept in quarantine for 4 months at Vestberg
Quarantine Station for dogs and cats(1816 Skiptvedt, telephone
+47 69 80 85 80 eller 90 67 09 63/telefax + 47 69 80 85 90). Before
the quarantine space is reserved the import permit must have been
granted. We would like to point out that the quarantine station has
additional requirements regarding vaccinations for dogs and cats(see
enclosed information). The 4 months compulsary quarantine period is
followed by a 2 months restricted period at the animal owners home(this
means for example that the animal must not come in contact with other
animals).
All questions regarding quarantine must be made directly to Vestberg
Quarantine Station for dogs and cats

We would like to inform you that:
- Import to Norway of dogs of the following breeds(pure-bred or crosses)
is prohibited: Pit-Bull Terrier, Tosa Inu, Dogo Argentino and Fila
Brasileiro.
The importation of American Staffordshire Terrier requires
the original pedigree.
- The animal will be returned or euthanized on the owners account
if import requirements are not fulfilled.
- Private quarantine is not permitted. The quarantine period of 120
days is never waived.
- The Norwegian Animal Health Authority reserves the right revoke
an import permit if circumstances in the country of despatch require
such action.
- The application will not be processed before an application fee
of 500 NOK is paid into postal giro account no.0823 0967

N-0033 Oslo, Norway.A receipt for the fee must be attached
the application.
